As individuals, corporations, and governments, we should establish safer methods of recycling and disposal of wastes. The adoption of non-toxic means of recycling and disposing of wastes products play a significant role in preventing environmental pollutions that are caused by the exposure of the environment to toxic waste products. Built-in obsolescence refers to a policy of designing or planning a product with an artificially short useful life to enable it to become obsolete after a given period. Developed countries highly benefit from this policy while on the other hand, developing or non-developed countries suffer as a result of wastes that are disposed to such countries by their developed counterparts.

Core-Periphery Relationships factor in the manner in which waste and garbage are disposed of through the establishment of waste channels from developed to developing or non-developed countries. Much of the wastes from core countries or otherwise the industrialized capitalist countries end up in the developing countries due to the core-periphery relationships. Arguably, this kind of relationship is exploitative since it exposes both the semi-periphery and periphery countries to environmental pollution and degradation.

It is justified that this kind of relationship is a form of colonialism or imperialism because the core countries end up enjoying much of the global resources acquired through exploitative mechanisms while on the other hand, the periphery and semi-periphery countries enjoy little of the global resources. Additionally, this kind of relationship poses health threats to individuals living in the semi-periphery and periphery countries due to disposal of harmful wastes from core countries. Population growth, wealth and disparity, and environmental degradation facilitate the current exploitation of these less developed and developing countries by the industrialized capitalist countries. Additionally, these factors have a critical role in escalating the current increase in the amount of waste and garbage that are disposed of by core countries to the semi-periphery and periphery countries.
